Razorlight - 'We're better than Arctic Monkeys'
The band lay down the gauntlet
Razorlight have claimed they are "better than Arctic Monkeys" as they gear up to finish their second album.
The band, who are currently putting the finishing touches to the follow-up to 2004's debut 'Up All Night', have spoken exclusively to NME about their new record.
When asked whether the group feel like Arctic Monkeys are better than his band, singer Johnny Borrell replied: "What? Of course I fucking don't. I wouldn't say they're better than the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, either. Or The Strokes, or even like The Libertines were for those five minutes when they were brilliant. But they deserve it because the door was open for them and they blew the hinges off."
Famous for his self-belief, Borrell has also revealed that he still feels like a genius, explaining: "When I said it, I certainly felt like more of a genius than the awful bands NME were championing... And a lot of the bands around now are pretty average. So, if you ask me if I feel like a genius compared to them, then yeah, I do."
He added: "I feel like a genius more than most people, that's for sure."
