Belle & Sebastian pull T In The Park slot

But more new names are added
Belle & Sebastian have pulled out of this year's T In The Park.

The Scottish band were due to make their first appearance at the bash on July 8, but have pulled out due to "unforeseen travel difficulties", according to the festival's official website.

As previously reported on NME.COM, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Who are to headline the 2006 event.

New names joining the bill include Editors, Eels and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.

So far the following bands have been confirmed for this year's sold-out bash:

Thousands flocking to summer music festivals urged to get the facts about drugs.

This year, a record-breaking number of music festivals have been scheduled throughout the UK and the old favourites including V and Glastonbury have already sold out in record time.

For first-timers to regular festival-goers alike, the summer festivals provide the perfect excuse to chill out and have fun with mates and enjoy freedom from college, work and home. However, when the gigs and events on offer stretch throughout the day and night, it's easy to overdo the partying.

Don't feel under pressure to try anything you're not sure about
It's not a great idea to experiment with drugs in new settings where there are large crowds of people - the drugs are more likely to have a bad effect if you are feeling stressed or disorientated. If you do decide to take drugs, don't buy from people you don't know as there is an even greater chance that you won't know what you're getting. Remember that drugs can harm you and are illegal.

Drink-spiking can and does happen
Don't accept alcoholic drinks from people you don't know and don't leave your drink out of your sight. Mixing alcohol and drugs will also make the effects of both more unpredictable.

If you do take drugs, make sure you stay with your mates and tell them exactly what you have taken
If you do start to feel unwell get yourself to a first aid point as soon as you can.

Take a water bottle with you, especially when the sun is shining
You can fill it for free from tap points dotted around festival sites. If you are taking ecstasy or other dance drugs and moving around a lot you risk overheating and dehydration. You can reduce the risks by sipping no more than a pint of water or non-alcoholic fluid every hour.

Driving
If you plan to drive to the festivals remember that mixing drugs and driving can be dangerous: drugs can affect a driver's judgement, co-ordination, control of the vehicle, and can lead to severe tiredness and the risk of falling asleep at the wheel.
