Su La Repubblica di oggi c'è un articolo di mezza pagina sugli AM.

Arctic Monkeys 'set to smash records'
Retailers predict even bigger sales than first thought
The Arctic Monkeys debut album remains on course to become the fastest selling debut album on Sunday.

Chart experts say that 'Whatever People Say That I Am, That's What I'm Not' has already sold over 250,000, putting it on course to sell more than the 306,632 needed to beat Hear'Say's record set back in 2001.

HMV spokesperson Gennaro Castaldo said: "Saturdays are always our best sales days, particularly at the end of the month when salaries are being paid and people have more money in their pockets.

"There's now so much momentum with The Arctic Monkeys that we're confident the band can now write their way into the record books by taking the 'fastest-selling debut album' crown. It's also possible the band could claim membership of that rare club - artists with the number one album and number one single in the charts the same week."

The band are currently at Number One in the UK singles chart with 'When The Sun Goes Down', although it's too close to call as to whether it'll sell enough to stay at Number One for a second consecutive week.

They're currently on the ShockWaves NME Awards Tour with Maximo Park, Mystery Jets and We Are Scientists. All the dates are sold out.

Gli Arctic Monkeys rifiutano i Brit Awards

Gli Arctic Monkeys, il cui primo album ha battuto i record di vendite nei negozi UK, avrebbero detto “no” ai Brit Awards. L’importante manifestazione discografica britannica si svolgerà il prossimo 15 febbraio all’Earls Court di Londra. Non si tratterebbe però di una posizione da snob: il gruppo di Sheffield ritiene d’avere avuto una “esposizione” perfino esagerata nelle ultime settimane, e non vuole mostrarsi troppo in pubblico perché teme di saturare tutti gli spazi. In ogni caso la band è allergica alle riprese televisive: finora i quattro si sono fatti filmare una sola volta ed hanno gentilmente respinto al mittente le richieste di “Top of the pops” e “CD:UK”. Da notare che a questa edizione dei Brits parteciperanno i Coldplay, e che alla prima puntata di “Top of the pops” apparvero i Beatles.
