San Diego State Uni review

September is the perfect month to fit in some last minute concerts. The weather is still fairly warm and people haven't gotten so stressed with school and homework that they can still take a Wednesday night off to take in a quality rock concert without worrying too much about not making it to class in the morning.
When I heard the British band Oasis was coming to Coors Amphitheatre with opening acts Kasabian and Jet, I was very excited. Not only were two of the hottest up-and-coming rock bands opening, but the epitome of rock star cool was headlining.
Oasis had been a staple in my life since "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?" graced America with its presence back in 1995. My sister and I were obsessed with "Wonderwall" and thought we were the hippest kids in elementary school.
I had a chance to see the band a few years ago when I was visiting family in Italy. Oasis played at an outdoor festival in the town of Lucca and my cousins felt honored to take their American relatives to a rock show. Granted, we didn't technically have tickets and we could only see the sides of Noel and Liam when they ran backstage, but my younger sister, brother and I had a blast listening to "Champagne Supernova" and drinking wine coolers (because we could).
So it was exciting to find out I'd be able to see their faces from the front on Wednesday. And it was also nice to find out that Kasabian and Jet would be rocking for the first two hours.
Kasabian was phenomenal. The band rocked hard despite the fact that half the arena was empty. Everyone should go listen to these guys' CD - I'm serious.
Jet followed Kasabian and tore up the stage with its hits, "Look What You've Done," and "Are you Gonna Be My Girl." Rumor has it the group has a new album coming out soon - the long-awaited sophomore companion to 2003's wild "Get Born."
Then, it was time for Oasis. You could feel the crowd getting geared up with anticipation over what the crazy Gallagher brothers might do on stage. As the lights went up, the band didn't mess around and went directly into one hit after another.
For the grand finale they did a cover of The Who's "My Generation," and anyone who wasn't on their feet already was soon jumping and dancing around with the rest of the crowd.
As the stadium lights flooded over the crowd and people started to shuffle back to the parking lot to start the long drive home, I realized summer had officially come to an end. But what better way to end a phenomenal season than with my British bad boys?
