Christmas came around fast, didn't it? It's a novelty record! Or is it? Justin Hawkins of The Darkness covering the Sparks 1973 classic. Why he do dat, you ask? Heaven only knows. It's rubbish. It's about as rubbish a cover version as one could get without having Tom Jones and someone from a forgotten Welsh indie band doing it.

Sparks seem to like it as they star in the sub-Peter Kay video wherein Hawkins enters a darts tournament against Phil 'The Power' Taylor. You won't like it because it's one of the most pointless and unlistenable vanity-projects in the history of modern music. One can only speculate that this is a toe-in-the-water attempt to try out a Justin solo career since The Darkness seem hell bent on self-destruction. And let's face it, who'd want a third Darkness album? Or even a second?
