They aim to prove critics wrong with next record
03 Aug 05 - Starsailor made an emotional live return to London this week.
In a reference to the recent terrorist attacks in the City singer James Walsh told the audience "London is the Capital of the world", and thanked everyone for coming along despite the threat of further attacks. He also incorporated the words to We Shall Overcome into one of their songs.
The band has been working on their third album in LA, and it's due for release in Autumn, but their set was largely made up of classic Starsailor; highlights included Four To The Floor, Good Souls and Alcoholic, as well as acoustic covers of the Clash's London Calling and Kelis' Millionaire.
"The wider world isn't expecting the 'next great album' to come from Starsailor."
James WalshSpeaking to 6 Music before the show James said he thinks the album's their best yet, and that being out of the limelight has benefitted the band:
"We were still relatively well known but we felt sort of outside of the 'scene' that was goin' on like Franz Ferdinand, the Kaiser Chiefs, all these bands that the pressure was on ... for a change.
"So I think that the album really benefitted from that because it felt like we were sort of unknown in a way and the fact that the wider world isn't expecting the 'Next Great album' to come from Starsailor. So we're gonna prove them wrong."
