ecco la bbc che dice dello storico evento

Oasis take NYC

US tour rolls into Madison Square Garden

22 June 05 - Noel Gallagher says he's relieved Oasis are finally getting some serious recognition in America.

The band are playing a landmark gig at New York's Madison Square Gardens tonight and all twenty thousand tickets sold out in just over an hour, back in February.

Noel said; "America has tended in the past to be a bit of a disaster for us, so I've not been letting myself enjoy it really. I mean, all it is, is someone's sold a load of tickets. We haven't done anything yet and it's a great feeling to kind of get there after twelve years of banging your head against the wall in the States. It's nice to finally get there now".

Noel GallagherThe North American tour started at Toronto's Molson Amphitheater on the 17th of June. After tonight's show in Manhattan, they head off to Boston and Philadelphia.

Then it's back home for the UK leg which starts in Glasgow on the 29th of June at Hampden Park in Glasgow, before dates in Manchester, Southampton, Milton Keynes and Newcastle.

C’è qualcos’altro che è apparso sui giornali e che tu vorresti chiarire?

Oasis @ MSG : Believe the Truth
It's been six years since I've seen the Gallagher boys (Y100 Feastival with Beck, Moby and Foo Fighters) and the last time they attempted to tour America, they got into a car accident that forced to cancel their tour (I had 5th row seats at the Tower Theater dammit). It was good to see them back in full force playing a larger venue that can withstand their enormous sound and enthusiastic fan base. They didn't disappoint. I expected Liam to walk off the stage during mid-song, but he remained the whole show. Six seconds into the show he said "fuck" so all was well.

As you all know, I'm one of the biggest Blur fans in the Tri-State area, but I've always been into Oasis. I'll tell you why -- even though they have big mouths about being the biggest band in the world and they call every other band shite, they play like they are the world's best band, which counts in the end. They don't have ultra fancy stage lighting or set design and they have no need to hype up the crowd. The music does all the talking for them on stage. Still, the crowd goes bonkers.

The Madison Square Garden show proves that -- it's all the power of music and none of the rubbish that goes with seeing a big show. Liam doesn't run around like an idiot. He just stands in place while big brother wails on the guitar. Liam's sign of showing off is balancing his tambourine on his noggin. It's his way of saying, "I sing in the best band in the world, what the fuck are you going to do about it?" By the way, Liam has some fresh duds -- a pinstripe blazer with a carnation and slacks -- it's down right Jarvis Cocker-like.

The set list stuck to what they have been playing, avoiding Be Here Now and Standing on the Soldiers of Giants like they never existed (the P.A. system does play "Fucking in the Bushes" to start the show, and I still think Be Here Now is a brilliant record). Since they played mostly new material off, it's a statement that Oasis is in Phase II of their career.

Here are some sound clips I took with my Palm

Little by Little
What's The Story Morning Glory?
Champagne Supernova (the quality gets better as it goes along)
Don't Look Back in Anger
Live Forever
My Generation
Wonderwall
Here's the setlist:

Fucking in the Bushes
Turn Up the Sun
Lyla (the song critics point to as a tune that hearkens back to their early work)
Love Like a Bomb
Bring It On Down
What's the Story Morning Glory?
Cigarettes and Alcohol
Importance of Being Idle (Noel mumbled something they he tried to get Billy Idol to cover this while their we're in Italy ancora??? )
Little by Little
A Bell Will Ring
Live Forever
Meaning of Soul
Mucky Fingers (best song off new album)
Champagne Supernova (I remember seeing this live in 1999 and feeling like it took 20 minutes to play)
Rock 'n' Roll Star
Encores: Songbird
Wonderwall
Don't Look Back in Anger (best Oasis lyric, "Please don't you put your life in my hand, of a rock 'n' band, who'll throw it all away")
My Generation (still don't get why close with somebody elses' song)
So a fantastic sold out show of 18,000 white people. I sang my head off at the classic tunes like everyone else at the show. I had floor seats in the back (my binoculars were in effect), so no decent pics as you can tell:

un'altra recensione:

"... Madison Square Garden, we're here, it's about fuckin time ..." is all Liam had to say and the roof at MSG was lifted as the band went into "Turn up the sun" . The packed Garden welcomed Oasis with a true ovation and one could sense that the band showed up to give their top US performance so far ! Gem as animated as ever using trade mark Townshend 'windmills' looked a lot happier on stage then just a few nights before and Liam had the Garden's female fans wrapped around his finger from start to finish with his swagger and Rock n Roll star coolness. His vocals were also spot on for the whole show and rkid only gave a few gentle hand gestures directed at the stage sound mixer , it just seemed like everyone enjoyed themselves being at the World's most famous arena. Zak Starkey's drumming was energetic and precise. What a treat to watch his solos spread through out the show ! Andy Bell's thumping baselines during "My Generation" drove the crowd into a final frenzy before the Chief grabbed a fan's Vinyl copy of WTSMG and actually signed it before walking off stage ! Tonight the Garden saw Brit Rock at it's finest, it was only deserving that Oasis was shown the best MSG had to offer in return ......

LA COCAINA E' IL METODO CHE HA INVENTATO DIO PER DIRTI CHE HAI TROPPI SOLDI

Some singers try to be cool; Liam Gallagher doesn't do trying; he just is. If John Lennon were still alive, he'd want to be Liam Gallagher.
