COLDPLAY 'AS BIG AS THE BEATLES'

COLDPLAY have become the first British band since THE BEATLES to have a new entry inside the US Top Ten singles chart.

The band’s forthcoming single ’Speed Of Sound’ has charted at Number Eight and is the first time a UK band has achieved such success since The Beatles had a hit with ‘Hey Jude’ in 1968.

Their biggest US hit before this was ’Clocks’, which charted at Number 29 in 2003, BBC news reports.

’Speed Of Sound’ recently topped the download chart in the UK.

’Speed Of Sound’ is lifted from the band’s third album, ’X&Y’, which is out on June 6.

However, next week’s issue of NME (out nationwide on May 4) will feature an exclusive track-by-track guide by the band themselves.
