The Stereophonics are No.1 in the official UK singles chart with 'Dakota'.

The track is from their new album 'Language Sex Violence Other?', which is out next Monday.

Kelly says it's a step back towards their rockier roots:

"We just tried to do a different type of writing - I stopped writing on acoustics and did a lot of writing on bass and electric guitars."

"It's much harder and rockier, and much more in-your-face and faster, so the record was much more direct and 'at you'."

"We just experimented with a lot of electronic noises and tried to make something that was very, very different from the last record."

The band aren't planning to play any UK festivals this summer, instead they're gigging in small venues on a world tour.

They've got a new drummer, Javier Weyler, who replaced Stuart Cable. The lads told us how they all met:

"We've known him for about four years anyway. He used to make us lots of tea and coffee in the studios. He was the tea boy."

"He makes a great sandwich. He made us beans on toast once. That's true, I remember that."

"Who would've thought he'd end up drumming on the album?"

"The dynamic's been really good. Everyone's of the same mind set."

"We all really want to do the same stuff and playing together in a band has been really good actually. Exciting. It's been nice."
