Coldplay Announce Summer Dates

After weeks of speculation, Coldplay have confirmed they will be playing five UK dates this summer in support of their forthcoming as-yet untitled third studio album.

Coldplay will be perform their biggest UK headline shows to date when they begin their 2005 world tour with a series of outdoor concerts this summer. They will play two nights at the 30,000 capacity Crystal Palace Athletics Stadium in London, two nights at the 25,000 capacity Reebok Stadium in Bolton, and a night at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow, which also holds 25,000 people.

Tickets will cost £32.50, and will go on sale at 9am on Saturday March 5. However, there will be a pre-sale of tickets to registered fans at the band's official website http://www.coldplay.com from Thursday March 3.
Notably, the live dates are close to, but do not clash with Glastonbury weekend adding further fuel to the fire that Coldplay will be one of three huge names headlining the Somerset festival this year.
While the earliest of these new dates may be for June, Coldplay drummer Will Champion hinted recently via an interview with the band's fanclub mailout that fans might get the chance to see the band playing some more intimate gigs even earlier, saying they would be playing live in the UK “Maybe Spring 2005”.
Despite Champion confessing that Coldplay were "utterly petrified" at the prospect of performing live having not played for over a year, guitarist Jonny Buckland explained that the band were looking forward to playing the dates.
“We’ve spent a long time in the studio and haven’t played a gig for eighteen months”, Buckland said, “So we can’t wait to get out on tour and play our new songs live.”
Not unsurprisingly rumours about the new album’s title, running order and release date have been spreading like wildfire. The most common of these is that the record will be entitled 'Zero Theory' and will have a release date of May 24 on Parlophone Records.

Songs expected to be featured on the album include ‘Square One', 'Talk’, ‘Something Ain't Right’, ‘Fury’, ‘Till Kingdom Come’, ’Blasphemy’, ’What If’, ’Echo My Name (I Can't Believe You're Gone)’, ’X&Y’, ’The Hardest Part’ and ’Déjà Vu’.

Coldplay Add Extra Tour Date


Following the announcement of their five date UK tour this summer, Coldplay have now revealed they’ll be playing another date as part of their 2005 Summer tour.


Alongside their previously announced dates at London's Crystal Palace Athletics Stadium, Glasgow Bellahouston Park and the Bolton Reebok Stadium, Coldplay have added a Irish date to their summer comeback tour.



The band will now be headlining at the 75,000 capacity Dublin Marlay Park on June 22.

Tickets for the Dublin date will go on sale at 9am on Friday March 11, priced £59.50 (plus bookign fee). Tickets for the previously confirmed 2005 Coldplay UK tour dates will go on sale at 9am Saturday March 5

Coldplay secret gig

They unveiled new tracks for an audience of 40
05 Mar 05 - Coldplay played for a crowd of just 40 people on Friday night, unveiling brand new tracks from their anticipated 3rd album.

The gig was held at their rehearsal rooms in South London, for an invited audience of record company personnel, friends, family and a few hand picked fans.

The setlist alternated between old songs and new tracks, with the new songs including the upbeat Square One, White Shadows, Speed Of Sound, A Message and an epic ballad called What If.

They also played In My Place, The Scientist, Sparks and Clocks, although the planned encore of Politik, Yellow and Fix You had to be scrapped as they ran out of time.

The band tour the UK in June and July, playing in London, Glasgow, Bolton and Dublin.
