Pete Doherty is hoping to temporarily leave his rehab clinic to join Britain's biggest bands at the NME Awards tonight (February 17th).
The Babyshambles frontman is currently undergoing treatment for his addiction to drugs since his recent release from prison.
Reported by Sky News, Doherty's spokesman Tony Linkin said: "Pete really wants to go to the awards and we're hoping that he will be attending."
"If he does, he will have to go straight back to rehab."
The ceremony will see Babyshambles come up against Doherty's former band, The Libertines, in the category of Best Live Band.
Doherty himself has also been personally nominated for Hero of the Year, Villain of the Year, Sexiest Man, Best-Dressed Man and Worst-Dressed Man.
Last year The Libertines walked off with the Best British Band award.
Franz Ferdinand, who are up for five awards, lead 2005's nominations. They are followed by The Streets with four and Scissor Sisters and Razorlight with three apiece.
The ceremony will take place at the Hammersmith Palais, with all awards voted for by readers of the magazine.
Meanwhile, Doherty features in a broadcast of ITV's "Orange Playlist" tonight in which he reveals more details of his relationship with Kate Moss, how he jammed with two members of The Clash and five of his favourite tracks.
In the interview with Lauren Laverne, Doherty says he has found "real love" with Moss. He is later seen picking petals from a flower and saying "She loves me, she loves me not..."
He also refers to jamming with a star-studded band at Moss's recent 31st birthday party.
On this he reveals: "I played with Mick Jones at a birthday party on the weekend, with Paul Simonon playing bass for the first time in 20 years.
"Bobbie Gillespie was on vocals and Jason Pierce [Spiritualized] played rhythm guitar, Pete Doherty and Danny Goffey on drums."
The programme requires that interviewees pick five songs that mean something to them from five different categories.
Doherty chose The Clash's "Train In Vain" as his biggest influence and Kings Of Leon's "The Bucket" as his favourite track of the present.
He also declared The Paddingtons as his tip for the future, dedicated Oasis' "Live Forever" to his manager James Mullord and picked The Specials' "Do Nothing" as his favourite ever track.
The programme will be broadcast at midnight tonight (February 17th).
