Stone Roses reunion not happening, says Eavis

The much-rumoured reunion of The Stone Roses at this year's Glastonbury isn't going to happen, says Michael Eavis. Despite Ian Brown and Mani both appearing at the festival, the rift between Brown and John Squire still hasn't healed enough for the band to perform together again.

“Ian called up actually,” says Eavis, “I asked him, What are the chances of getting John on board and getting everyone back together? Mani and everyone? And he said, Not really. I said that I thought the rest of the band were really keen, and he said, Yeah, but I haven’t spoken to John for nine years and to suddenly get back onstage together and start playing... it's not going to happen."

Mani, however, will be joining Brown on stage for the singer's headlining set at The Other Stage. "Mani will be playing first with The Primals on the Main Stage on Sunday night,” laughs Eavis, “Then he’ll be flying over The Other Stage for Ian Brown’s closing headlining set. He’s gonna be busy running like blazes between stages. Primal Scream will be doing their Greatest Hits set. They’re a favourite band of mine. I think it’ll be great fun. I’m really looking forward to it”.

The 'Scream have now got "an album's worth" of songs written for the follow up to Evil Heat, and will be heading into the studio in the next few weeks.
