Songwriting awards announce shortlist
11 Apr 05 - The nominations for this year's Ivor Novello awards have been announced, with Band Aid and the Streets leading the way with two each.
The event celebrates its 50th anniversary on 26 May at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. It's designed to represent British songwriting excellence, although its agenda is traditionally pop, based on sales and airplay.
For instance, Best Song Musically and Lyrically is between Dry Your Eyes by the Streets, Everybody's Changing by Keane and These Words by Natasha Bedingfield.
Best Contemporary Song pits Franz Ferdinand's biggest hit Take Me Out against Mike Skinner's Blinded By The Lights and Pete Doherty's Wolfman collaboration, For Lovers.
