Starsailor are fighting back from a year of being eclipsed by felow anthemic indie bands like Snow Patrol and Keane.

The Wigan-based four-piece played a seasonal special at London's Hammersmith Apollo last night to remind fans that they're still contenders alongside Embrace, Travis, and the division's true heavyweights Coldplay."We've seen the rise and rise of Snow Patrol and Keane - bands who have stolen our thunder"Lead singer James Walsh told 6 Music that they thought it would be a good way to put themselves back on the map.

He said: "On this occasion, we're basically doing it for the fans, and partly for ourselves as well, because we've seen the rise and rise of Snow Patrol and Keane - bands who have stolen our thunder, stolen a march on us. We wanted to remind our fans and the public at large that we're still around.

"There is no kind of hard feelings between any of the bands. It's easy to be laid-back and nice when you're at the top, but because we've had so long off we've just been sat twiddling our thumbs getting frustrated seeing all these bands."
