Chris Martin: 4th Album Will Be Greatest Piece Of Music Ever
The UK's biggest music awards - the Brits - take place on Wednesday. Over the next three days The Record will be speaking to the biggest nominees. First is Coldplay, who are up for four gongs. They won Best British Group and Best Album in 2001 and again in 2003. Can they make it a treble? Showbiz Editor Rick Fulton talks to Chris Martin.
Coldplay singer Chris Martin isn't one for false modesty. He reckons their fourth album "is going to be the greatest piece of music ever made".
An arrogant claim, undoubtedly, but the band have sold more than five million copies of third album X&Y [pictured] since releasing it last year. And they arguably enjoy bigger success in America than any other British band has for around a decade.
That's made them the favourites to win Best British Group and Best British Album at the Brit Awards on Wednesday.
