Nominations Kerrang Awards Announced!

Nominations for the Kerrang! Awards are out and it looks as though Green Day and System Of A Down are flavours of the year.


It's about that time of year when various music industry supremos decide to organise elaborate parties, invite all their music industry supremo friends and drink free champagne, all in the name of celebrating bands, new and old. Kerrang! is the most recent to release it's take of this music year with the usual nominations ranging from Best Newcomer to Best Band On The Planet.

This year Green Day and System Of A Down have already jointly won the award for the bands most likely to win an award at the Kerrang! awards, with five nominations apiece, though they compete with eachother in most categories- including the award for Best Album. The Kerrang! Awards, this year celebrating its 12th birthday, has also noted various Xfm-friendly bands as worthy of praise. Foo Fighters and My Chemical Romance are up for several awards, while Feeder, Stereophonics and Busted's baby Fightstar, have all got a mention.

The nominations were announced at the Kerrang! Day Of Rock held on Tuesday (August 9) at the Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street, London and were celebrated by performances from Bullet For My Valentine, InMe, Towers Of London, Nine Black Alps and The Mascara Story.

Ever democratic, seven of this year's awards are voted for by the readers of Kerrang! Magazine and users of kerrang.com (voting closes on the 22nd August) while the best video award is voted for by the viewers of Kerrang! TV.

The ceremony will take place August 25 in a central London location and is hosted by Hollywood starlette turned rock bitch Juliette Lewis and ex-Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable.
