Hampden crowd show Oasis they are still mad for them

FLOPPY-HATTED Liam Gallagher swaggered around Hampden last night as 50,000 faithful fans roared along to Oasis.

The rebels without a cause proved they're still stadium rock 'n' roll with attitude with a blistering show in front of a sell-out crowd.

Frontman Liam Gallagher, brother Noel and bandmates Gem Archer, Andy Bell and new drummer Zak Starkey opened with Turn Up The Sun then recent No1 Lyla.

Liam raised a few monobrows with his latest style statement - a floppy hat and sideburns that would have made Albert Steptoe proud.

Rattling his trademark halfmoon tambourine, Liam stayed sober by swigging bottled water during a set which included favourites such as Cigarettes & Alcohol, (What's the Story) Morning Glory and Champagne Supernova.

Forthcoming single The Importance Of Being Idle - sung by Noel to a sea of saltires and Lions Rampant, was accompanied by big-screen slogans like 'How Foolish It Is To Be Motivated By Fame And Profits' and 'When In Doubt Do Nothing'.

Ironic messages from the greatest British band to be posted missing in action at this weekend's Live8 gigs?

Noel also sang Little By Little, giving Liam a chance to sidle offstage.

But it wasn't long before he was back to his sneering best with the likes of Live Forever and Rock And Roll Star.

Oasis may have reached middle age, but even standard fare from the Gallagher brothers had most of the crowd in rapture.
